Understanding OR Directors

Unisphere supports the display of OR director information.

For a storage system running PowerMaxOS 10 (6079), a new OR emulation has been added to replace all previous Open System Front End and RDF emulations. The OR emulation facilitates the optimization of CPU and memory resource usage when both operating system host connectivity and SRDF connectivity exist on the same board.

The new OR emulation also reduces the impact of adding SRDF (for NDM purposes) to an existing-non-SRDF system.

One or more OR ports are associated with an OR director. An OR port may be capable of supporting multiple protocol types, but only one protocol may be enabled at any particular time.

You can add or modify the specific protocol for the port that is associated with the OR director. If you want to change the protocol, you must remove the existing protocol before you add the new protocol.
